Mohit Saraf served as a debate judge at the SIAC Symposium 2025 in Singapore
Our Founder & Managing Partner, Mohit Saraf, served as a Judge in the debate on “This House believes that Party-nominated and Party-Appointed Arbitrators enhance the legitimacy and attraction of International Arbitration as the preferred method of dispute resolution.” at the SIAC Symposium 2025 in Singapore.
The debate addressed criticisms of party-appointed arbitrators and ongoing questions about their role, while noting that major institutions, including SIAC under its 2025 Rules, continue to uphold this party right. It explored whether party-appointed arbitrators still contribute to legitimacy and user confidence, or if institutional appointments should now take precedence.
Moderated by Mr. Alastair Henderson, Mr. Saraf joined Prof. Hong-Sik (Justin) Chung and Ms. Lara Hammoud as fellow judges in this engaging exchange of perspectives.
