Our Partner, Raunaq Bahadur Mathur, spoke on the panel “What do users now want?” at GAR Live: Singapore 2025
The session focused on practical issues shaping arbitration today, and measures counsel rely on to improve efficiency of the arbitration mechanism (such as settlement and mediation protocols and active case management) and navigating risks. Raunaq shared her analysis of the pro-arbitration and pro-user dynamic, and addressed how the underlying principles of the 1958 New York Convention and the UNCITRAL Model Law are being tailored to meet the needs of complex commercial disputes in the modern era. In that context, Raunaq examined the recent Indian Supreme Court judgment on court’s powers to modify arbitral awards (Gayatri Balasamy v. ISG Novasoft Technologies Limited).
The session was moderated by Sapna Jhangiani KC, and featured panelists: Raja Bose, Tony Dymond, Jayne Kuriakose and Corey Whiting.
